*PeKay's World |
There are two stages in PeKay's World, the House stage where PeKay lives and the Rhythm Forest stage, where he plays with sounds and his friends live in.

|
*PeKay and his friends |
Ma
Easy going bear. Always hungry. Gentle and strong. Loves taking a nap on the hammock.
PeKay
Always full of energy and loves to play. Proud of the nose that can honk like a horn.
Gaako
Usually found near the bathtub in PeKay's House. When the urge hits, goes out on adventures.
Mimi
Very good dancer. Smart dresser. Loves Ribbons and Flowers.
Wookey
Always curious. Playfulness gets out of hand sometimes. Must wear glasses all the time.
Mannen
No one knows how old he really is. At least 100 years old. The turtle is wise as it is old.
Otama
Strayed away from lots of brothers and sisters somewhere. Also can't remember where the tail was lost.
Kurin
Small voice and faint-hearted. Ends up collecting small things. However, rises to the occasion in a crunch.

*How to go to PeKay's House |
Click PeKay's House on the Start page

|
*House stage |
PeKay sleeps, wakes up, eats, plays a lot, and takes a bath with Gaako. He lives in a small house, spending his days happily.

<Let's go out button>
When you want to go to the Rhythm Forest, please click this button.
If you want to come home from the Rhythm Forest, use this button, too.

<Let's play button>
Please use this button when you want to play with PeKay.
You can choose picture books, coloring books, board games, hide-and-seek, Manekko, or drawing.
For Manekko, please use your body as PeKay does and stand in front of the screen.
For hide-and-seek, please close your eyes and ask him "Are you ready'?" Coloring is easier than drawing.
If not good at using the mouse, please choose bigger stamps instead of pens for drawing.

<About me button>
PeKay is going to introduce himself.

<Clock button>
PeKay has his own schedule.
When you start up PeKay's House, the clock starts with the PC's clock time. PeKay's clock runs 15 times faster than a normal clock.
When you can't play with PeKay because he is sleeping at night, you can change PeKay's clock to noon, and then you can play.
If you start up PeKay's House in the evening, you can't go to the Rhythm Forest. In this case if you move PeKay's clock forward, you will be able to go out.

<Dialogue button>
You can change the speed at which the lines are displayed. It can be 5 times slower.
PeKay's movement does not slow down. So, PeKay will stay the same, while the lines will be displayed longer.
We originally planned our program with the idea that mom and dad would read these lines. However, we've had requests for a longer display time for young kids who have started to read and want to read by themselves.

<Name button>
If you want to change the name PeKay calls you, please click this button.

<Timer button>
You can set up a timer. Choose 10, 20, or 30 minutes.
(In actual time, not in PeKay's time)

*Rhythm Forest stage |
The Rhythm Forest has 4 areas. From the top, they are sky, leaf, ground, and pond.
First you will arrive at the ground area. Friends in the Forest will ask you out to the other areas.
After you enjoy the leaf area and come back to the ground, you will be able to hear many plants on the ground.
You can enjoy music session with friends in the Forest!

<Let's go back button>
If you want to come home from the Rhythm Forest, use this button.

<Up/Down button>
You can move between the areas with this button. From the sky, leaf and pond, you will only be able to move to the ground area.
You can't go to the sky area unless you have a balloon or an umbrella.

Sky area
You can move the clouds PeKay is not on by dragging them with mouse.
When you mouse-over on the items, e.g. flying balloons, airplanes, fireworks, etc, you will see some responses.

Leaf area
When you move your mouse horizontally you can change the leaves' colors. Next, when you move your mouse vertically, the base color will change.
As the color changes, the music will also change.

Ground area
After you come back from the leaf area, the ground area fills with flowers.
You can make sounds by moving mouse over them. PeKay and his friends in the forest will start the music session.

Pond area
It remains quiet if you don't move your mouse.
If you move the mouse, you will hear some sounds. Enjoy the sounds and movements.

*How to quit |
Please use the Exit button to close down.
If you close down with the browser's close button, PeKay will not remember you.
He might say "Nice to meet you" even though you two met before.

|
*Attention |
If your child is interested in one particular action, please repeat it again and again.
We want to ease the burden on the eyes, so please sit at a good distance from the screen.
Since long hours might hurt the eyes, keep track of your time by using the timer and so on.
Even if you are in hurry, do not finish with the browser's close button. Please use the Exit button to say good-bye to PeKay. That way, your child will understand that this play-time with PeKay is finished.
PeKay's House does not have any voice communication.
Please hold your child on your lap and talk to him or her.
This program is designed for the child's first encounter using the computer with his/her parents.
Please try Play with PC, Play with craft and Present also.
Please use gestures and body movements to make PeKay's World fun for your child.
There are no rules about how you should play. So, enjoy PeKay's House the way you want.
We would be very happy to know how you play.
